July 17th, 8:00pm EST | Theory Thursday: Financial Literacy: Path to Freedom or Strategic Diversion?

We’ve been told that financial literacy is the key to building wealth, especially in Black, Brown, and other historically marginalized communities. But what happens when that advice ignores the structural forces that keep us underpaid, overworked, and economically excluded?

This session questions whether financial literacy is truly the road to freedom (it’s not) or a simply a limited tool that distracts from the deeper systems of economic oppression. How much can budgeting apps, webinars, and savings tips really do when the game was rigged long before we got to the table? How do we build economic power? Let’s dive in.

July 24, 8:00pm EST | Theory Thursday: Anti-Intellectualism: What happened to critical thinking?

From COVID conspiracies to book bans, and from climate change denial to social media “experts,” we’re seeing a rise in anti-intellectualism that undermines truth and devalues learning.

This session explores how the erosion of trust in experts, institutions, and even facts is shaping our society and what it means for movements built on knowledge, liberation, and education. When everyone’s an expert, who do we believe?
