Welcome back to WARTIME. In this Special Edition of WARTIME, we present a condensed version of our full-length publication – a sixteen-page, tabloid-style newspaper.

This issue is a response to the severity of this political moment we find ourselves in: DeSantis and them proud boys ramping up again. They “defunded the police” but then approved Cop City. Election season round the corner, and Biden and Harris are doing their best to look busy for our vote, but what have they really done? Jobs are being cut in almost every industry, and the rent still due on the first. We are funding wars abroad while our own communities starve. Look around; fascism is here.

In this special edition of WARTIME, we break down why we must free all political prisoners. We reflect on the words of George Jackson, the founding force of Black August. We revisit our conversation with the late great Dr. Mutulu Shakur. And we highlight the hypocrisy of living in a fascist state disguised as what Amerikkka calls a democracy.

Despite the ongoing war, Black Men Build is thriving. In our third year, our Men’s Circles stand as the bedrock of our organization—organizing, fostering trust, and building brotherhood. As we navigate this challenging journey, we’re prepared to evolve and invite you to join us in the struggle.

WARTIME is a digital and print publication that is produced quarterly by Black Men Build.

WARTIME is a call to action. Founded in June of 2020 with our first issue, The Black Man’s Survival Guide, we sought to create a political and cultural magazine that speaks to Black life in America. Since WARTIME’s inception, we have created four unique issues documenting Black life from 2020 and beyond. At its core, WARTIME is a tool for political education, organizing, and transformation. With every issue, we collaborate with Black writers, photographers, artists, and members of our own team to create a unique body of work. WARTIME is the political, cultural, and artistic vision of Black Men Build – free and accessible to the public.
