What is Our Role in the Prison Movement? | Black August Mass Call
As Black August came to a close, we hosted a powerful Mass Call on Thursday, August 28th featuring Jamal Joseph, Too Black, and Robert Earl “Kinetik” Council. This gathering focused on mass incarceration, political prisoner campaigns, and the ongoing, decades-long struggle of the prison movement.
Together, we uplifted the deep history and current organizing happening both inside and outside the prison walls. Black August has always been a time to honor the resistance of political prisoners and prisoners of war held by the state.
But as the month ended, we posed two critical questions:
What is our role in the prison movement beyond August?
How do we fight back against the prison industrial complex in all its forms?
